Introduction
Introduce our newly developed Aqualetic Online System (AOS)
Aqualetic = Aquatic and Athletics
By no doubt, one of the largest school annual events for PE Panels is the annual Swimming Gala and the annual Athletics Meet. To help these PE panels,
a foxpro standalone CAPS (Computer Assisted Processing System) was developed by the joint efforts of the program designer Mr. KW Chiu
and the EMB (now EDB) some years ago. The CAPS ran on Windows OS interface as a standalone program since the year 1990+. It has gone through many
unforgetable version upgrades following the progressive changes in Windows OS systems, from Windows XP to Windows 7, then to Windows 10. However, this old CAPS program is experiencing its difficulty
in coping with the latest Windows OS environments. (Note: The CAPS program was reported by some schools that it is unable to be installed on some Windows 64-bit systems).
In view of this, Mr Chiu, with the help of his partner, has started to re-design the CAPS in 2020 by using the latest web technology so as to transform it to run on the Cloud platform. The new system
has just been completed in July, 2021. It is ever easier and more convenient to use today. The new Aqualetic Online System (AOS)
can run entirely on the internet or within your school intranet environment.
It has the following features:
(1) The whole system is a ONCE FOR ALL installation in your school web server (if schools opt to). After it is installed, there is no need to take care of it for the rest of the years.
(2) All Swimming Gala / Athletics Meet settings and functions are done on the cloud platform by importing and exporting from/to Microsoft Excel files
(3) There is no need to bring along a bunch of computers, printers and power cords to the sports ground, schools just need to bring along a few tablets or smartphones with WIFI connections to process the score inputs and result manupilations
(4) Environmental friendly and paper saving in the Sports ground. There are numerous functions to help staff/student workers to monitor the event results using the tablets or smartphones, so event result printouts are not necessary
(5) All event scores and results can be exported to external Excel files for safe keeping and for future school based use
(6) Suggested usage on the sports ground :
(a) 1 tablet at the Chief Judges Stand - for making Championship and Individual event winners announcements
(b) 1 or 2 tablets (can be placed anywhere) solely for inputting track event results
(c) 1 or 2 tablets (can be placed anywhere) solely for inputting field event results
(d) 1 tablet at the Marshal point to take rollcalls
(7) If schools are more ambitious, they can even assign more workers to access the program with more tablets so as to speed up the input process
(8) An option to enable all staff/parents (and students if schools allow) at the sports ground to view the event winner list and the Championship results by themselves at real time
(9) Specially tailor-made to suit the latest 5G technology
